He Makes Beautiful Things (a unique maternity session)

I wasn’t quite sure when she told me they wanted to take pictures at a breakfast restaurant, and the that the other setting was going to be the new addition on their house.  Oh, and that it was still under construction.  But hey, they are both artistic people so I went with it;) Seriously, you should see Dayna’s paintings…incredible!

When they explained to me that their special thing is to go out to breakfast together, I immediately got it. They knew that once their sweet little one arrived these breakfast dates might be few and far between, so they wanted to capture that special time they shared.

I loved the way Cory was just watching Dayna and smiling while I was taking her picture and the calmness that surrounded the two.  They were fully enjoying this fun time together and the mounds of food they were about to partake in;)

Cory and Dana are in the midst of building an addition onto their one bedroom home to make room for the baby and it is going to be really nice.

Can you guess what they are naming their little girl?  And remember when I told you they were artistic people?  Well, check out the wall they painted in Esther’s nursery below.  I love the colors and I absolutely loved capturing Cory and Dayna in this exciting and special time in their life.

Bertie Boy is 1.

This boy is sooo ridiculously cute.  That bleach blonde hair and incredible blue eyes…oh.my.  I loved just following him around.  He was in his element at home and loving getting his picture taken.  I couldn’t have asked for a better scenario.  Happy 1st Birthday, Bertie!

No matter how many times I take pictures of these sweet kids, they never like my camera in their face.  This time I had no doubt that once cupcakes came into play, my hard work was over.  The smiles came out (as well as the energy) and I just kept clicking away.  It was all just cake crumbs after that;)

I hope you are all enjoying this snowy Monday!

Happy Spring

I’m so glad we got out an enjoyed the beautiful weather a couple weekends ago because the first day of spring was not all I hoped it would be.  Oh well, spring weather will come soon enough and even though it is cold outside, you will still find us standing in line to get our free Rita’s italian ice today:)  I hope these pictures of my kids bring you a little feeling of spring today.

The Cubs Fans

Lifestyle photography has to be my favorite thing at the moment.   Getting a peak into the lives of a family is so much fun, not to mention I get to meet some really great people!  This family was such a joy to spend the morning with, capturing the three (four if you count the dog;) of them spending time together.  Towards the end of the session they told me they were going to put on some jerseys for a few pictures.  When I found out they were Cubs fans I couldn’t wait to tell them that I was a Cardinals fan;)  We had some fun bantering and despite our differences, we still had a great time.  It was a priviledge to get some memories they will hopefully cherish for a long time.

My Favorite Blue-Eyed Boy

I heard him giggling as he came out of his bedroom.  He was clearly proud of himself for something. As I peaked around the corner, the first thing I saw was his sister’s slippers.  I immediately asked if she put her slippers on her brother and her answer was no.  I looked back at him and he was grinning behind that pacifier of his.  He was pretty proud he put them on all by himself.  I’m having a hard time letting him grow up and I can’t believe that he will be two years old next month.  It really does go so fast!  But for now I am glad to capture my blue-eyed, little boy just as he is.  Despite his father’s disapproval to wearing his sister’s slippers or high heeled dress up shoes around the house, I’m certain he will grow out of it, so for now I’ll let him have some fun;)

Because even more than his sister’s shoes, this boy loves animals…especially lions.  You will often find him lugging as many animals as he can all over the place.

And if you take his paci out and pretend to suck on it yourself…well, then you get the most wonderful big-boy grin a mom could ever ask for.

Enjoy the simple, everyday moments!

Cuties and Cupcakes

My daughter’s friend, Lauren had been asking her mom to have a tea party with her friends for quite awhile so her mom called up Main Street Cupcakes to see what we could do there.  She found out that they do cupcake parties.  They provided drinks, cupcakes, frosting and sprinkles for $5 a person and we had 30 minutes fun.  We all seriously had such a delightful time. From the excitement on their faces of showing each other their fancy dresses, to the hugging (I mean, lots of hugging), to the fun of decorating and all of the laughter, giggles, smiles and joy shared in between…I highly recommend setting up a cupcake decorating party for yourself at Main Street Cupcakes in downtown Hudson.   I love that these are special memories these sweet friends will share for a long, long time.
