Last night I went to bed at about the same time I was waking up four years ago in labor with you. I was remembering back to how my water broke, and how I woke up scrambling around, crying tears of complete fear and total excitement.  I knew it was going to be one of the most amazing days of my life…the day I met my baby girl. I’ll never forget how I felt when I looked at you for the first time.  You looked so much like your father and you were so beautiful.  

Your dad and I had so much fun celebrating your first birthday with all of our friends.  Little did I know then how important these friendships would be not only to me, but to you as well.

You turned 2 with a few scratches, but you didn’t let that stop you from celebrating.  Your sincere joy and excitement for life is one of my very favorite things about you.

Your third year was celebrated with your friends at the park and even though it rained…

and all of your cupcakes toppled over…

you laughed through it all and a rainbow even appeared.

My sweet, sweet girl, YOU are such an amazing blessing in my life.  You keep me on my toes and remind of what is important each and every day.  You love so deeply and laugh so freely. 

You have grown so much in the past year and I have been so blessed to sit back and watch each new experience you have had.  I wouldn’t miss it for the world. You are a loyal friend, with such a caring heart and I couldn’t be more proud of you.

I know with each additional candle, and with each new year, you will continue to grow into the unique and beautiful individual God created you to be.  Your family and friends love you so much and you have so much to celebrate today.  Happy 4th birthday, Elise Renae!
