The days of travelling seem like forever ago and our time with family came and went so fast while we were back in Illinois for Christmas. I just got around to looking at all the pictures from our time together with family and I wanted to share a few of our favorite memories from that time together.
One of Elise’s favorite memories was decorating the birthday cake for Jesus at Grandma and Grandpa’s house on Christmas day. We woke up at our house to see what Santa brought and then quickly packed everything up in the car for our 7 1/2 hour trip to Pontiac, Illinois. We made it in time for dinner and a little birthday celebration…and of course some snuggles after 2 months of being apart.
Then we headed to Nana and Granddad’s house for one of the best meals we’ve ever had! Elise loved getting to help Nana and Granddad in the kitchen for our special Christmas meal of Beef Wellington. Delish.
And of course we had to spend some time at the piano with Granddad:) Such precious memories.
Back to Grandma and Grandpa’s we went to spend time with Eric, Laura, Caden and their newest addition, sweet baby Chloe. Elise was in love with her new cousin right away and was asking to hold her whenever she could. I absolutely love watching Caden and Elise as the big brother and big sister because it was so hearwarming to see how loving and gentle they are with each of their little siblings and little cousins as well.
Nolan had a blast taking a bath in the sink, as it was his first bubble bath ever. Elise had so much fun playing in the sink while he bathed that she asked for her turn. Obviously, that did not happen.
Travel can be hard when you are so far away from every last member of your family, but we so cherish the times we have together. I wish I could snuggle on the couch with my mom and sister more often, but I’m so thankful to have memories to think back on.
Our family has been growing and changing for the last 7 years and with each new addition our hearts grow fuller. I hope you all were able capture some special memories and are ready to make many more in 2012. I know I am!
